RegioStars 2013: call for applications
The RegioStars awards application process for the year 2013 is now open. The objective of the awards is to identify good practices in regional development and to highlight original and innovative projects which could be attractive and inspiring to other regions.
Regions for Economic Change
Exchanging good practice between Europe’s regions
On 8 November 2006 a new initiative called “Regions for Economic Change" was adopted by the European Commission under the Territorial Cooperation objective for the 2007-2013 programming period. It aims to link the exchange of good practices developed in the interregional cooperation (Part of the C strand of the ETC (as well as of the former Interreg III Community Initiative), its aim is to promote exchange and transfer of knowledge and best ...) and urban development network programmes to their dissemination and implementation into the Convergence, Regional Competitiveness and Employment and European Territorial Cooperation (This is the EU Regional policys third pillar of the programming period 2007-2013 and succeeds the Interreg III Community Initiative. With the present programming ...) operational programmes.
To achieve these objectives, Regions for Economic Change will work on the following elements:
-
Identification of 30 priority themes focused on economic modernisation and the renewed Lisbon agenda;
-
Development of a bridge between thematic networks and the Structural Funds (The EU's Structural Funds are administered by the Commission to finance Community structural aid. They comprise the Guidance Section of the EAGGF for agriculture, ...) mainstream programmes;
-
A better communication through an annual conference and awards;
-
A fast track option, where identified networks funded under INTERREG IVC and URBACT II will benefit from additional expertise from the European Commission.
So far, eight INTERREG IVC Capitalisation projects (Capitalisation Projects are interregional cooperation projects which focus specifically on the transfer of regional development good practices into mainstream EU ...) have been earmarked for additional assistance and thus contribute to the Regions for Economic Change (On 8 November 2006 the European Commission adopted a new initiative for the 2007-2013 programming period under the Territorial Cooperation objective called 'Regions ...) initiative. Details on these approved operations are available in the project database.
